MINING GRADUATES & APPRENTICES

Would you like to join a team that is growing, has a great culture and is constantly progressing? Our own employees say that we are a company that cares – and we do for our teams, our partners and in the work that we do!

The programs we offer for apprentices and graduates are an integral part of our business and are offered as part of our commitment to developing the leaders of tomorrow.

Graduate Program and the WA School of Mines Partnership

The WA School of Mines is the premier tertiary facility within Western Australia. We are proud to be the Principal Sponsor of the WA School of Mines Alumni (WASMA), collaborating with the school to find appropriate employment opportunities for new Graduates. Our graduate opportunities include:

  • Mining Engineering
  • Geology
  • Mechanical Engineering

We believe in getting our mining graduates into the field and building tangible hands-on experience across the many facets of geology, mechanical, mining and civil engineering, project management and more! A key aspect of our program is access to mentoring.

We offer a genuine career path within the mining industry and our graduates have a real chance to make a difference in active projects and the opportunity to work in a physical mining environment.

We reward our graduates well and have a strong development program to support the growth of our people.

Are you currently studying or have you recently completed studies at another university? We’re open to applications from all Australian universities across varied disciplines. Please keep in touch through our Job Hub for opportunities as they arise.

SMS Mining Services Apprenticeship Program

SMS’s program differs from others in that apprentices are exposed to a wide variety of equipment, site locations and ongoing mentoring from management. As part of the training and development, our apprentices attend TAFE and other courses (8-10 weeks per year). They also receive ongoing support and one-on-one mentoring throughout the apprenticeship.

All apprentices are provided with the opportunity to start as a Trade Assistant within our Kalgoorlie Workshop before beginning their TAFE studies and apprenticeship program. This gives incoming apprentices the opportunity ‘taste test’ a variety of trades over a three month period before settling on what to study.

Please contact us for more information about available graduate opportunities and apprenticeships.
