Saracen Mineral Holdings has awarded the open pit mining contract at the Kailis Gold project to SMS Innovative Mining Solutions.
SMS is currently providing equipment hire and maintenance services to Saracen at its Thunderbox Gold project north of Leonora in Western Australia. Chief Operating Officer, Shaun Clark said “SMS looks forward to strengthening our relationship with Saracen as we mobilise into the Kailis Gold project located approximately 90km’s to the south of the Thunderbox processing facility. This award clearly demonstrates our ability to provide ongoing value to our client’s operations and to deliver a high level of service. The Kailis Gold project is located 5km north of Leonora. SMS will provide drill and blast, load and haul, and mine development services over the initial 13 months period. SMS will commence mobilisation immediately, with contract works due to start on or before 1st April 2017.
The project will generate approximately $40 million in revenue over the contract period and have a peak workforce of approximately 65 personnel.
Equipment used includes 120-200T excavators, 140T truck fleet and ancillary equipment.
