SMS Innovative Mining Pty Ltd is very pleased to announce that it has executed a contract with Norton Gold Fields wholly owned subsidiary, Paddington Gold Pty Ltd, for the provision of mining services at its Racetrack West and Quarters 040 Open Cut Gold Mines, located near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
SMS Innovative Mining Solutions has been a long term partner of Norton Gold Fields, with the relationship going back to 2013. SMS currently holds the MARC services and equipment rental contracts for all current operating open cut mines. This latest contract is significant, with it being SMS’s first mining services contract. This award signifies Norton Gold Fields confidence in SMS to deliver this key project, and it’s a testament to the hard work and commitment shown by the entire SMS team in developing the necessary systems and processes so the business can successfully undertake these contracts in the future.
The Racetrack contract will be in the order of $1.5 million over a period of 16 weeks. Services to be provided by SMS include Supply of all labour and machinery, removal of topsoil at both Racetrack & Quarters open cuts, construction of diversion channels, and construction of Racetrack ROM Pad, construction and compaction of flood protection bunds. Mobilisation to site is expected to occur immediately with operations to commence 15th January 2016. The SMS onsite workforce is expected to peak at around 15 personnel. There is potential to receive further works from Paddington Gold at other satellite pit close to Racetrack and we are in discussion regarding these additional projects.
