SMS Rental (WA) Pty Ltd is very pleased to announce that it has received a Letter of Intent from Saracen Metals Pty Ltd advising of its intention to enter in an equipment hire and maintenance contract with SMS for the Thunderbox Gold Project, Saracens second major project outside of the Carasoue Dam Operations. Thunderbox is located approximately 30km south of Leinster in the Western Australian Gold Fields.
Formal contract award is subject to final contract negotiations which SMS expect to finalise with Saracen by the 5th June 2015.
Subject to formal award, the contract will be in the order of $100 million over a period of approximately 5 years. Services to be provided by SMS include the supply and maintenance of the mining & ancillary fleets & supply / setup & maintenance of the workshop infrastructure. Mobilisation to site is expected to occur mid to late June 2015 with major operations to commence early July 2015. The SMS onsite workforce is expected to peak at around 50 personnel.
SMS and Saracen have also partnered in rolling out various technology initiatives on the project, including WENCO Light, which is a live production monitoring and analysis tool providing live data on excavator productivity and truck efficiencies. This is an exciting step forward for the SMS group of companies.
